9-1-1 Operations

The Quincy/Adams County Enhanced 9-1-1 Center is a five position consolidated public safety communications center with at least three dispatchers on at all times.

All Quincy/Adams County 9-1-1 public safety dispatchers are cross-trained to perform call receipt and dispatch functions for all public safety organizations in the City of Quincy and Adams County.

All Dispatchers are Illinois-licensed Emergency Medical Dispatchers and can provide life-saving instructions to 9-1-1 callers.  They operate a variety of equipment including a Computer

Aided Dispatch system, a multi-line Enhanced 9-1-1 telephone system, radio communications consoles, and mobile data computers. They obtain all necessary information and dispatch appropriate police, fire, emergency medical services, and other services in a timely manner.

In addition, the dispatchers maintain contact with all on-duty units to update calls and assist in obtaining additional information, as well as maintaining appropriate documentation logs.

Dispatchers receive Enhanced 9-1-1 information upon receipt of a landline 9-1-1 call on a screen that automatically displays the address of the call, a call back telephone number along with the appropriate public safety response agencies.
