VOTE BY MAIL
WHO MAY VOTE BY MAIL?
- Military and
overseas voters may apply to have a ballot automatically mailed to
them for the whole year. Click
here for more information.
- Anyone may
request to vote by mail ballot without specifying any reason for
their absence on Election Day.
HOW CAN YOU REQUEST A VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT?

application and mail it or drop it by the County Clerk’s Office.
To obtain an application, you may:
1) Download an application
and forward your request to our office.
General and/or Consolidated Election
Primary Election – Democratic Ballot
Election – Republican Ballot
2) Stop by our office at 507 Veront St, Quincy, IL.
3) Call our office at 217-277-2163,
Applications for vote by mail ballots can only be made
during a certain time prior to each election.
Applications must be submitted not more than 90 days prior to an
election and not less 5 days prior to an election.
Applications being mailed from outside the
United States must be submitted not less than days prior to an
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO AFTER YOU SEND IN YOUR APPLICATION?
- Ballots will not be sent out until 40 days
prior to an election.
- Once your application is received by the County Clerk’s
Office, your application will be reviewed. Once your application
is accepted, you will be mailed a ballot to the address provided
on your application.
- Your ballot will be mailed to you within 48 hours after the
office has received the request.
- Along with the ballot, you will receive an instruction sheet,
a certification/secrecy envelope, and a return envelope.
- Your ballot must be returned to the County Clerk’s Office
prior to the closing of polls on Election Day. Mailed ballots
must be postmarked no later than Election Day, and must be
received within 14 days of the election.
NOTE: You may also vote in
person at the County Clerk’s Office by doing “Early Voting”
starting 40 days prior to an election and ending the day before
