Q:
Is the Adams County Ambulance Service a Medicare Service Provider?
A: The Adams County
Ambulance Service provides service is Medicare recipients under
Medicare Part B. We accept assignment which means Medicare pays
fees for services based on scheduled rate. The patient may be
presented with a bill after Medicare pays its share, typically
supplemental insurance will pay any remaining fees after Medicare
has submitted payment.
Q:
What if I choose a service that is not covered by Medicare?
A: In the event a
patient chooses a service that is not covered by Medicare, then the
patient will be responsible for payment of fees. An example would
include an inter facility transport which is deemed “Not Medically
Necessary” by the patient’s physician. If services are available at
a hospital where the patient is getting care, then Medicare may not
pay. We will not require payment in advance from Medicare patients,
but we will require them, the next of kin, or power of attorney to
sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice. We work diligently to
accommodate those who call upon our service.
