All
ambulances are staffed with a minimum of one paramedic and one EMT who work
twenty-four (24) hour shifts. Each member of our team is licensed by the
Illinois Department of Public Health and function under the direction of a
project medical director, an emergency physician at Blessing Hospital. Our
crews meet and exceed stringent educational requirements regularly to maintain
their licensure.
With
both EMTs and paramedics staffing the ambulances, treatments for adult and
pediatric patients include, but are not limited to, splinting of fractures,
bleeding control, supplemental oxygen, emergency childbirth, intravenous and
Intraosseous administration of emergency medicines, cardiac monitoring and
defibrillation, Endotracheal intubations, and surgical airway procedures.
