Marriage Certificates

WHO MAY OBTAIN A COPY OF A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?

  • Anyone.  Marriage certificates are open to the public.

Any information regarding family history which is normally found on the back of a Certified Marriage Certificate will not be reproduced for the general public.

 

WHAT IS REQUIRED BEFORE YOU CAN OBTAIN A COPY OF A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?

A Government issued picture ID (Drivers License, State ID Card) if requesting a Certified Marriage Certificate.  If your request is by mail,  send a copy of your ID along with the request.

A fee of  $10.00 for each copy requested, each additional copy of the same record at the same time is $7.00  Make checks payable to Adams County Clerk.

 

HOW CAN YOU OBTAIN A COPY OF A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?

You may obtain a copy of a Marriage Certificate either in person or by requesting it by mail.  Stop by our office at 507 Vermont Street Monday thru Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to obtain a copy of a Marriage Certificate.  Mail your request to our office. Download and print the Marriage Certificate Request Form.

 

Either way you choose, you will need to provide us with the following information:

        The name of the groom (legal name used at the date of marriage)

        The name of the bride (legal name used at the date of marriage)

        The date and city of marriage

RECORDS OF MARRIAGES IN ADAMS COUNTY WHICH ARE KEPT ON FILE AT THE CLERK’S OFFICE BEGIN IN THE YEAR 1825.
