HOW
TO REGISTER
TO VOTE
WHO
MAY REGISTER TO VOTE?
You
must be a citizen of the United States
You
must be 18 years of age on or before the date of the next election
You
must reside in your precinct for at least 30 days prior to an
election.
WHAT
IS REQUIRED BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER TO VOTE?
Two
forms of identification with one showing your current residence
address. One form of
identification must be a permanent residence, such as a driver’s
license, a hunting or fishing license, a student identification, or a copy of a piece of mail delivered to
you at your residence.
HOW
CAN YOU REGISTER TO VOTE?
You
may register to vote in person by stopping by our office Monday thru
Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Mail
your request to our office.
Applications to register to vote by mail may be picked up at
the following locations:

NOTE:
When registering by mail you must vote in person the first
time either at your polling place or by casting an absentee ballot
in the County Clerk’s Office.
HOW
OFTEN MUST YOU RE-REGISTER?
Only
if you move to a different county, or
If
you change your name
WHAT
SHOULD YOU DO IF YOUR HOME ADDRESS CHANGES?
If
you have moved from one address in Adams County to another address
in Adams County, you need to notify the County Clerk’s Office of
your new address.
You
can notify our office by:
1)
Coming into our office and completing an address change
form
2)
Mailing us, on a plain piece of paper, your old address, your new
address, and your phone number.
We will also need your signature on the request. Our
address is : Adams County Clerk, 507 Vermont St, Quincy, IL 62301.
3)
Download a Change of Address form.
Mail the completed form to our office at 507 Vermont St, Quincy,
IL 62301.
NOTE: We
can accept address changes year round except during the 27-day
period just prior to an election and for the two days after such
election.
