Do
you have a severe weather storm shelter?
Have you ever
wondered if rescuers would find you in your shelter?
The
Adams County Emergency Management Agency has initiated a
Severe Weather Shelter Registration Program. This is a
free and voluntary program that allows residents who own
a personal severe weather shelter in Adams County to
register their shelter with the Emergency Management
Agency.
This
program will provide rescue personnel with valuable
timesaving location information should a tornado impact
your property. This information will be logged into the
county GIS system allowing emergency responders the
ability to visually locate the shelter on a map.
This information will not be available to the
general public.
To
register a storm shelter or safe room,
print the registration form here and mail to the
Adams County Emergency Management Agency. Information
recorded will include the owner’s name, location and
type of the shelter, telephone, and GPS coordinates if
you have a way to obtain the reading. If you are unable
to determine your GPS location contact us and we will
send someone to determine the GPS location.
THIS
INFORMATION WILL BE MAINTAINED BY ADAMS COUNTY EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AND UTILIZED BY RESCUE PERSONNEL ONLY IN THE
EVENT OF STRUCTURAL DAMAGE FROM SEVERE WEATHER OR OTHER
RELATED INCIDENTS.
