There are over 33,545 addresses within Adams County.  Some of these addresses were correct street style addresses.  An additional 12,255 Addresses that were a rural route box number or subdivision lot number were converted to a street style address.  Over 1/3 of the addresses in Adams County had to be changed.

Adams County Addressing Ordinance (pdf format)

In order to make it easier to find the new addresses, the Adams County GIS created a book of every new address in the County that is outside the City of Quincy.  This book is 343 pages and includes an index of addresses.  Due to privacy laws, names are not included in this book.  Copies of this book are available at the Adams County Highway Department for $20.

During the address conversion process, Adams County signed a confidentiality agreement with the United States Post Office.  As a part of this agreement, Adams County is not allowed to release the names or “old” addresses of any resident.
