Environmental
Health - The Division of Health Protection’s Environmental
Health Section responsibilities include:
· reduction of food borne illnesses through restaurant
and food stand inspection
·
assurance of safe drinking water through private and
non-community water well system permitting and inspection
·
regulation of proper wastewater disposal through
on-site wastewater system permitting and inspection
·
permitting and annual inspection of tanning parlors
·
investigation of nuisance complaints relating to the
above-mentioned areas of responsibility as well as rodents and trash
·
annual surveillance of mosquitoes and birds for the
presence of West Nile Virus
Emergency
Preparedness -
It is the goal of the Division of Health
Protection to prepare the community for bioterrorism
and pandemic flu health emergencies
through personal, organizational and community planning and
coordination.
SAFE
KIDS Program -
The Adams County SAFE KIDS Coalition is unifying
Adams
County
to fight childhood injury.
Immunization
Clinic & Tuberculosis -
The nursing staff of the immunizations clinic is
dedicated to providing recommended immunizations for children and
adults, annual flu clinics for the distribution of seasonal flu
vaccinations, tuberculosis testing and surveillance, and
vaccinations and counseling for those preparing for foreign travel.
HIV
& Sexually Transmitted Diseases - The HIV/STD program
provides education and preventative services including anonymous HIV
testing and counseling, and case management for HIV positive
individuals.
Communicable
Disease Program - The Communicable Disease program coordinates
surveillance, tracking, investigation, and reporting of communicable
diseases and food borne illnesses through a network of local and
state resources.
Breast
and Cervical Cancer Program - The mission of the Breast and
Cervical Cancer Program is to reduce breast and cervical cancer
mortality in women of
Adams
, Brown, Pike and Scott counties by providing quality screening and
diagnostic services free of charge to income eligible women.
Childhood
Lead Poisoning Prevention Program - The Adams County Health
Department Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program protects
children by providing education and when necessary requiring lead
abatement in homes of children with high lead levels.
