The Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the Circuit Court, Director of Safety and the Administrator of the County Jail. The Main functions of this Office include:

  • Investigation of all crimes of violence and fraud, to arrest suspects and to recover stolen property and evidence.

  • Provide basic police services to the unincorporated areas of the county.

  • Maintain a complete record of all traffic accidents, arrest, investigations and complaints.

  • Serve warrants issued at the request of the States Attorney and all writs and summons issued by the Circuit Court.

  • Manage all prisoners confined to the county jail and to be responsible for delivering prisoners to court for arraignment, bench or jury trials.

  • Maintain security in the Courtrooms and Custodian of the Courthouse.

I believe that the communities’ input is essential to the operations of the Sheriff’s Office and I encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns.
