What records are available for genealogy?

  • Birth records 75 years or older.  Certified copy only. Photo copies are not available.

  • Death records 20 years or older. Certified copy only. Photo copies are not available.

  • Marriage records 50 years or older. Certified copy or photo copy of the front of the marriage. Front does not include historical information.

What is required before you can obtain a copy of a birth certificate?

  • A Government issued picture ID (Driver's License, State ID Card).  

  • A non-refundable search fee of $4.00 for the first record/name for a five year search.  Each additional year searched is $1.00.

  • A completed application for search of record. You can find the applications below.

How can you obtain a copy of a vital record?

In Person - Stop by our office at 507 Vermont St, use the N 5th St entrance. Our hours are Monday thru Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm. Indexes are available in our office for research purposes. If you perform the research, the search fees are waived and you pay only the cost of the record.

By Mail - Choose the appropriate form below and print the application. Follow the directions on the form. Do not forget to include a copy of your photo ID.

What is the fee for the records?

Certified Birth - If found, a certified birth record is $16.00 for the first copy and $9.00 for each additional copy obtained at the same time.

Certified Death - If found, a certified death record is $20.00 for the first copy and $16.00 for each additional copy obtained at the same time.

Marriage - If found, a photo copy of the front of the marriage certificate will be supplied at no additional cost.  Additional photo copies of the front of a marriage certificate can be obtained for $1.00 each.

 A certified marriage record is $14.00 for the first copy and $9.00 for each additional copy obtained at the same time.
